Remotely Piloted Aviation Systems

An aircraft capable of being operated without a pilot shall not be so operated except with the authorization in writing of the Authority and in accordance with such conditions as may be specified in the authorization

All persons intending to own or fly a drone in Fiji must fill complete the online drone registration, and attach completed forms (whichever is applicable) For Commercial Operators, please fill in OP 138 and attach:

1.       Letter of Intent
2.       Drone Qualifications/Experience
3.       Valid Public Liability Insurance Cover
4.       Request/Offer letter from local companies if you are based outside Fiji.
5.       Approval from Tourism Fiji/Film Fiji if you intend to make commercial movies. 

"Dos"

*Do obtain a CAAF OP 137 Recreation RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aviation Systems) Permit to Fly…

*Do contact the resort management prior to flying your drone for advice as to where it can be flown safely without disturbing and endangering other guests.

*Do fly the drone for recreation and fun family pics and hobby shots.
*Do take lessons and learn to fly safely
*Do lookout for unknown manned aircraft traffic.

"Don'ts"

*Don't fly near manned aircraft

*Don’t fly it within close proximity of people, cars or buildings

*Don't fly beyond line of sight.

*Don't fly contrary to CAAF  safety-based  guidelines and laws stated on the form OP 137.

*Don't fly your drone for payment or commercial purposes.

*close proximity would mean an area where an engine failure would cause it to inadvertently fall onto people, cars and/or structures and cause damage.
